Christy Gabriel EMERGES AS OVERALL BEST STUDENT AT STAR LINK COMPUTER TRAINING INSTITUTE GRADUATION

Star Link Computer Training Institute on Friday, 2nd August, 2024 celebrated the academic achievements of its students with a graduation and prize-giving ceremony. The event, held at the institute's premises opposite Semen Hotel, Katsina-Ala, saw Miss Gabriel Christy crowned the overall best student for the 2023/2024 academic session. Nigeria Police Force list of successful applicants 2022

The Nigeria Police Force has released the list of successful candidates who applied for the ongoing recruitment and attended the Physical/credentials screening exercise which was conducted earlier this year. The development information is contained in an update on the force’s recruitment website. The update advised those qualified for the next stage to print their Computer Based Test (CBT) examination slip. Makurdi protest

Hundreds of youths yesterday trooped to the streets of Makurdi, the Benue state capital, to join the Hash-End-SARS protest, which is ongoing in different parts of the country. The youths gathered at the IBB Square, Makurdi, and marched around some major streets of the state capital, including Tito Gate and Railway Market before heading to the Police Headquarters, chanting solidarity songs and disrupting traffic flow in the process. The youths also carried placards with various inscriptions such as: End Police brutality, The Service Chiefs must go, Restructure Nigeria, Give us jobs, We deserve better, Secure Nigeria and Fix Nigeria among others. The End-SARS protests have been taking place across major cities in the country with youths demanding an end to police brutality and killings with major highways across the country blocked, thereby grounding economic activities.

BREAKING: IGP Dissolves SARS After Widespread Protests

  The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has dissolved the infamous subunit of the force, the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS). Adamu’s announcement followed days of widespread protests by Nigerians demanding scrapping of the unit which had gained notoriety for brutality and human rights violations. Beyond scrapping the unit, he acknowledged reports of extortion and brutality, announcing a plan for an investigation. The unit was founded in 1992 to combat cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes. But SARS, instead, over time, has gained notoriety for its reckless intimidation of innocent civilians through puerile profiling and wanton abuse of power. Calls for the unit’s disbandment date as far back as 2017 and while the Federal Government and police chiefs have made several pledges to implement reforms, reports of SARS’ brutal activities against civilians have not abated.
